Publication Ethics
UNIBEN Academic Journals is committed to upholding the highest standards of publication ethics in line with international best practices.
Editorial Independence
The editorial board of each journal operates with full independence from institutional, commercial, or political influence. All editorial decisions are based solely on academic merit, originality, and relevance to the journal's scope.
Peer Review Process
All submitted manuscripts undergo double-blind peer review by at least two independent experts in the relevant field. Reviewers are selected based on their expertise and absence of conflicts of interest. The review process typically takes 8–12 weeks.
Authorship & Contribution
Authorship should be limited to those who have made a significant intellectual contribution to the work. All authors must approve the final manuscript and agree to its submission. Ghost authorship and gift authorship are considered unethical.
Plagiarism & Originality
Submitted manuscripts must be original work not previously published or under consideration elsewhere. The editorial board uses plagiarism detection tools and will reject any manuscript found to contain plagiarised content. Published articles found to be plagiarised may be retracted.
Conflict of Interest
Authors must disclose any financial, personal, or professional relationships that could influence their work. Reviewers must recuse themselves from manuscripts where a conflict of interest exists. Editors must not handle manuscripts from their own institution or close collaborators.
Data Integrity
Authors are expected to present accurate data and results. Fabrication, falsification, or selective reporting of data constitutes research misconduct. Raw data should be retained and made available upon reasonable request.
Corrections & Retractions
The editorial board will issue corrections for minor errors that do not affect the integrity of the work. Articles will be retracted if they contain fundamental errors, are found to be plagiarised, or violate research ethics. Retraction notices will be clearly marked and permanently linked to the original article.
Copyright & Licensing
The copyright of all published articles resides with the Department of English and Literature, Faculty of Arts, University of Benin, Benin City. Authors retain the right to use their work for non-commercial academic purposes with proper attribution.
